Why Rent A Salon Room?

By September 11, 2024Salon Spa Blog
Is there a best time to rent a salon room for rent?

Why rent a salon room? Why rent a salon suite?  Quite frankly, what’s in it for you?  And what is a salon room? Why not say “why rent a salon?”

We have the answers to those questions in this article by Salon & Spa Galleria, rockin’ the Fort Worth Metro area with twenty-three salon suite rental locations. Call us at 817-917-1416 for more information about current pricing and availability.

Now, let’s answer those questions of yours.

What is a salon room? Salon suite?

A salon suite, also known as a salon studio, is basically a mini salon that lets beauty professionals from all types of industries (MUAs, stylists, estheticians, etc.) to rent their own small salon, spa, or shop without the risks, overhead, and expenses that come with owning an entire building.

Traditionally, a beauty salon, or hair salon, was a standalone building with multiple workstations within. The salon was owned by someone, and the workstations were “manned” by independent contractors, beauty professionals, who work for commissions.

This new business model, to rent a salon room, or rent a salon suite, is usually a one-person enterprise where the owner and the employee are one and the same. It is still a salon, like traditional salons, but it is a salon in  miniature, small in stature and small in financial investment and risk.

Why rent a salon room?

We have already given you the main reason why this is the fastest growing trend in the beauty industry: because it is affordable and is possible without taking on a mountain of debt or risk. Suddenly, it is possible for a single person with modest savings to own a salon, something which was simply impossible fifteen years ago.

How large of an investment are we talking about to rent a salon room? Conservatively speaking, let’s say a couple thousand dollars invested to open the doors to your own salon.  And the return? On average, it is entirely possible for a single owner, working normal hours five days per week, to gross over $100,000 per year, and it is our opinion that we are lowballing our estimate.  Work hard, be thrifty, grow into success, and $100,000 is definitely conservative.

Why not just rent a salon?

Previously stated . . . renting a building for a traditional salon is expensive. The rental fee will be, at the very least, a couple thousand per month. Add to that overhead expenses like utilities, Wi-Fi, marketing, etc. Add to that the start-up costs of furniture, decorations, licensing, permits, signage.  It is entirely possible that initial costs, before even opening the doors for business, will reach ten thousand dollars or more, with monthly expenses close to $5000, possibly higher.

In other words, renting a location for a traditional beauty salon, or hair salon, or nail salon, will cot you and arm and a leg, figuratively speaking, before you ever greet your first client. And very few people can afford that.

Renting a salon suite is the hottest trend in the beauty and wellness industry, for a very solid reason: it is affordable for a large percentage of beauty professionals.
