Haltom City, Texas – June 15, 2023 – A good barber is hard to come by. They need to be passionate about their work and personable to bring in a steady flow of customers. They need to properly interpret the customer’s desires into stylish results and leave the customer feeling fresh. Quality barbering takes time and experience to perfect.
This kind of sought-after quality can be found at Panther City Fades, a local African American-owned barber shop that delivers a unique experience for its customers and offers a full service from haircuts to beard trims, to classic straight razor shaves. The business is in suite 119 inside Salon and Spa Galleria Fort Worth at 5208 Airport Freeway.
“As owner and operator of Panther City Fades, I set myself apart by creating an experience that is much bigger than just a haircut,” says Donald Wenslow, who studied at William Barber College in South Fort Worth.
“My aim is to create a cultural experience tailor-made for those who call The Panther City home. Not only do I have more than 15 years of experience in the barbering industry, but more importantly, I take pride in my brand, which is the only barbering brand that has an emphasis on the history of African American Fort Worth.”
Wenslow’s profound love for Fort Worth history can be seen in the large canvases throughout his business with historic photographs of local African American figures such as Lucille Smith and William McDonald, the first African American millionaire in Texas.
During the grueling Covid lockdown in 2020, Wenslow used his time to research his hometown and found many books about African American history in Fort Worth. His collection can be found in his shop overflowing a bookshelf for his customers to read while Wenslow works.
“The custom artwork on the walls tells forgotten stories of resilience that once existed in the community I grew up in and serve. I desire for my clients to know they are the fruits that come from the seeds planted by many people who came before us.”
If you are looking for a passionate and talented local barber who cares about his client base, loves his hometown and can deliver the perfect fade, you need to book an appointment with Donald Wenslow.
