But enough about us; let’s talk about making it big in a small hair salon/beauty salon.
Traditional hair salon is not necessary.
You all know what the traditional hair salon looks like and how it works. They have been around for over two-hundred years, and they can be found in practically every city in the United States. You walk into a reception area, and behind the reception area there are multiple salon chairs, where customers have their hair shampooed, cut, styled, and whatever else one does with hair.
Talking dollars and cents, the traditional hair salon, or nail salon, has an owner who actually leases that building, or owns it, and the “employees” are usually independent contractors who work on a commission basis, that commission usually in the 40% range.
Owning a traditional hair salon is expensive and labor-intensive. The cost of leasing a retail building is out of reach for most people, plus the expense of insurance, utilities, signage, advertising, taxes . . . most stylist simply do not have that kind of money.
Thankfully, there is a solution, one which allows any stylist with a minimum of savings to go into business.
How it works in a small hair salon.
Over the past decade, a new movement has taken root in the beauty industry. Instead of leasing an entire building, it is now possible to simply lease a salon suite, or salon booth, in a building dedicated to multiple hair stylists, nail stylists, microblading pros, massage professionals, and the like. This is obviously very appealing for anyone strapped for investment cash, since they are only leasing a room rather than an entire building, and the related expenses are proportionally smaller as well.
Take our Salon and Spa Galleria business model for an example.
The Salon & Spa Galleria business model.
Our luxury salon suites start at a low, very low $75 per week. Included in that cost are utilities, WiFi, a free HDTV, a marketing program, laundry facilities, a web page, security monitoring . . . practically all of the traditional overhead included in a low rental price.
These are generally one-person businesses, with low expenses, sharing the profits with no one, 100% ownership, no franchise fees.
As profitable as a large salon? Entirely possible if the customer base is sizeable. Do the math yourself. If you see ten customers per day, at an average of $75 per customer, you will have earned $750 in a single day. A five day week will gross at $3700. Your only expenses are insurance, the cost of goods sold, and whatever miscellaneous payouts you may have. Let’s say you ONLY net $3000 per week; that is $12,000 per month, or $144,000 in a year.
Something to think about, yes?
