Lash extensions . . . brow lamination . . . eyelash lift . . . eyelash tint . . . if you are intimately familiar with those terms, you must be a lash extensions professional. We hope, as you read this article, that your business is doing well during these troubling economic times.
This article is all about maximizing the profits from your skills, and in particular it is about the location, your working salon suite, from which you work. Hopefully we will provide you something to think about so that you can profitably navigate these troubling times.
We are going to give you a phone number – (817) 823-7105 or 817-917-1416. Hold onto that number. You just might want to call it when you finish reading this article if you are looking for a salon suite rental.
Where are you currently working?
These really are tough times for a small business owner. So many expenses, so many questions about the economy, the social-distancing problems, the health concerns, it all adds up to many more questions than answers for people trying to make it in business. So many beauty professionals, like you, have dreams of going it alone and being your own boss. But maybe this is not the time? Maybe it’s just too big a risk? Maybe you would be better working for someone else?
You basically have three options regarding a business location
If you are a lash extension professional, or for that matter anyone involved in the beauty industry, you really have three options to choose from regarding location:
- Work out of your home, or travel to customers from your home
- Work in an existing beauty salon
- Work for yourself and rent a salon booth for rent
There are benefits and drawbacks for each of these options, and we’ll touch on those a little later in this article.
What do you need for your business?
A lash extension business, luckily, does not need a great amount of room. A small booth rental or a small salon suite for rent will do. In fact, many lash extension pros get by with simply renting a chair. All you need, really, are the following:
- The tools of your trade
- A professional setting/surroundings
- Ample parking
- WiFi for online marketing/contact of customers
Which is right for you?
This really is a personal decision. Working from home has great benefits, most notably the small cost associated with it. You are already making a house payment, and you already pay utilities, so there really is no additional cost with this option. However, privacy and a professional appearance might be a problem, as well as possibly a poor setting and poor traffic flow.
Working for someone else has its appeal, but you are also working for commissions and making a fraction of what you would make if you went it alone.
And renting a salon booth is attractive because it means keeping all of the profits, and the setting is professional, but it also means you must be a self-starter and you are in charge of all facets of business i.e. marketing, bookkeeping, etc.
Which is right for you is a question only you can answer.
