Arlington, Texas – December 28, 2021 – Slay by Shay hair salon at Salon & Spa Galleria S. Cooper is celebrating its 5th anniversary this month.
Salon owner Sharonda Walker has been working with hair for many years. She said while the last two years have been unbelievably topsy-turvy thanks to the pandemic, she is happy that her business has gradually bounced back to the pre-pandemic levels.
“I think a big part of why we are still standing while several others [salons] had to shut down is we are like a little family here,” said Walker. “I am obsessive about keeping up to date with all the latest trends and all the products and I think when people leave here, they leave feeling happier and more confident.”
Her customers share the sentiment. Dionne, one of Walker’s long-time clients, says “Sharonda’s attention to detail when it comes to healthy hair and styling is insane. I never have to wonder if I’ll love my hair once I get out of that chair.”
Walker and her staff continue to take the necessary Covid-19 precautions, including wearing masks, sanitizing after each customer, and keeping a limited capacity of people at a time.
While Walker is an expert in all types of haircuts and styles, she specializes in precision cuts and short hair cutting. As one customer puts it, “if you are looking for the best precision cut in the metroplex, Sharonda is your gal.”
According to Walker, her team often teases her about spending all of her time at the salon, but she can’t argue with that. “Slay by Shay is my baby. I was here pretty much 24/7 to build it to what it is today. I have also been blessed with the most amazing employees and the best clients in the world.”
She is excited about the salon’s anniversary. “In the current times, we need some happy stories,” she says. Since a big party is out of question, she plans on reflecting on the milestone with her small team and focusing on how to “become the best hairstylist in Arlington.”
Treating every customer like family has helped Walker thrive as a businesswoman for half a decade despite the turbulent times. That’s what she believes is the secret behind her salon’s stellar success.
